Dear Mustang Families,

We just had another beautiful week of school and our students are thriving. Additionally, there are many exciting events that are taking place in the City this weekend. First, our Medford Mustang Marching Band and our Color Guard are hosting the first New England Scholastic Band Association Competition of the school year. There will be twelve bands attending from all over New England and a special exhibition performance by the Boston University Marching Band. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. The event runs from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Come out to support our band program and cheer them on as they battle it out in their division! Due to the expected rain tomorrow afternoon the event has been relocated to the Medford High School Gymnasium instead of Hormel Stadium.

This weekend the City of Medford will name the Hormel Stadium Track in honor of Medford’s own Dave McGillivray as part of Run Medford. Congratulations to Dave and his family! We encourage you to attend the Run Medford events (link below) and to witness this special dedication. Please be advised that because of this event, there will be local road closures and parking restrictions tomorrow from 7:30 am to 10:00 am which you can find here: Run Medford Road Closure Notice.

The Unified Basketball season is kicking off starting in October! The first game will be on October 4th at Medford High School. Please come and support this incredible co-ed sports program which supports athletes of all abilities by cheering on our amazing athletes. The October game schedule is available.

McGlynn Middle School Recognized as Special Olympics Champion

Special Olympics Massachusetts has designated the McGlynn Middle School a Special Olympics Unified Champion. This recognition affirms the McGlynn’s commitment to meaningful inclusion and to providing opportunities for students with and without disabilities to collaborate in sports, education and community engagement. Medford Public Schools proudly supports athletic opportunities for all!

P-EBT Food Benefit Opportunity

Breakfast and lunch continue to be served free for all students thanks to state law passed by the Legislature and signed by Governor Healey earlier this year.

Families do not need to sign up to receive free meals, with the exception of qualifying homeschooled families, who can apply for special P-EBT food benefits until September 30. Families (under certain income limits) who homeschooled their children or who enrolled their children in virtual learning in School Year 2022-2023 can apply for Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) food benefits - up to $1,241 for the year. The application is open only until September 30, 2023.
