Cooperative Education Program

Cooperative Education Program

Our Cooperative Education (Co-Op) Program provides students with the opportunity to extend their classroom learning into a real-world work environment directly aligned with their career pathway. Through structured, supervised employment experiences, students strengthen their technical skills, build professional confidence, and gain valuable hands-on experience in their chosen occupational field.

Students participating in Co-Op work a minimum of six (6) hours on each school day they are scheduled for placement. If a student is not scheduled to work on a school day, they are required to report to school. Weekly timecards are submitted to both the technical instructor and the Director of Cooperative Education to ensure accurate documentation and ongoing progress monitoring. Students are expected to notify both their employer and the Director of Cooperative Education if they are absent from work.

Student Eligibility Requirements

To participate in Cooperative Education, students must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Successfully complete 1½ years of their Chapter 74 technical program
  • Be recommended by their technical instructor, theory instructor, academic teachers, and school administration
  • Successfully complete a 10-hour OSHA Safety Training or 10-hour CareerSafe certification

Our Cooperative Education Program reflects our commitment to preparing students for career success by connecting rigorous technical instruction with meaningful workplace experience.
